Love Knows No Gender!

In 1989, Denmark was the first country in the world to allow civil unions for same-sex couples. Many other countries and jurisdictions have since followed and moved even further. Today, seven countries and seven jurisdictions allow same-sex marriages. Denmark is definitely no longer in the lead. But this might only be a matter of time! A number of bills on marriage equality are scheduled to be read and debated in Parliament on 26 March. We will be arranging the handing out of petition forms at different schools around the city. If you would like to help out, please e-mail info@blus.dk. In the mean time, please show your support by signing the online petition – and make sure you ask friends and family to sign it too!

Kissing Against Homophobia

On Thursday 26th of November a group of LGBTQ activists will be kissing against the Lithuanian government and their homophobic legislation through a public kiss-in in front of the parliament.

The public kissing is organized as a demonstration against the state homophobia which is violating the human rights of LGBTQ people in Lithuania. The event was organized by ANSO – Association of Nordic and Pol-Balt LGBTQ Student Organizations, in cooperation with Lithuanian LGBTQ activists.

Lithuania has long been known as one of the most homophobic and biphobic countries in Europe but the situation will get dramatically worse when the new legislation for The Law on the Protection of Minors against Detrimental Effect of Public Information comes into effect in March 2010.

Says Anthony Holm, Danish board member of ANSO and BLUS. Continue reading ‘Kissing Against Homophobia’

Copenhagen Gay & Lesbian Film Festival 2009

The program for this year’s CGLFF is out and tickets are on sale! To celebrate, BLUS will be hosting two related events in October. On Tuesday 6 October CGLFF will pay a visit to Studenterhuset to present the program and show clips from some of the movies on this year. Also, after the showing of the movie Pedro on Tuesday 20 October in Cinemateket (hang on to your ticket – it’s worth a beer!), we will keep the doors to Studenterhuset open late for post-movie drinks with all your BLUS friends. Get your tickets for Pedro and the other great movies here.
