Hip Hop, Masculinity and Homophobia

BLUS & RAPOLITICS presents a debate about hip hop, masculinity and homophobia with the Danish rapper Andreas Gaff, the Bolivian rap group Wayna Rap and philosopher Thomas Burø followed by a Bolivian rap-show!

The event takes place on Tuesday 16 June at 20:00 – as always in Studenterhuset.

Wayna Rap are socially enganged rappers from El Alto, Bolivia, currently visiting Denmark where they are performing their political tracks in connection with GAM3 street basket tournament and other activities organized by the association RAPOLITICS. Wayna Rap raps in Spanish and Aymara about the political situation in Bolivia including human rights, youth activism, cultural identity and diversity.

Andreas Gaff from the Danish hiphop group Ren Reflex has been an active part of the Danish hiphop scene for several years. With a critical view on the commercialization of hiphop and mainstream culture in general, he is advocating for an increased political and social awareness in Danish hiphop. Leading up to and following the recent release of their debut album, Ren Reflex has been performing live at various venues rooted in the Copenhagen left-wing activist scene such as Ungdomshuset, Christiania, Folkets Hus and more.

Thomas Burø is a philosopher, queer theorist, musician and Hip hop fan since 89′ (even if he by now has learned he cannot rap). He is currently teaching culture and communication theory at CBS.
